Sloughin är en korthårig nordafrikansk
vinthund, som så många
andra vinthundar har en väldigt
gammal historia.
Sloughin är de Marockanska beduinernas
och nomadernas hund.
De hade ofta sina hundar bakom sadeln
uppe på deras Arabiska fullblodshästar,
och när de fick syn på ett byte,
släppte de ner Sloughin för att fånga det.
Sloughin har fortfarande en stark jakt instinkt,
de är väldigt nära sitt ursprung på många
sätt.
Vi använder oss idag av den instinkten
till Lure-Coursing.
Idag är rasen mest utbredd i Tyskland,
Holland, Frankrike och USA.
Det finns ett fåtal uppfödare i England,
Norge och Finland.
Här i Sverige är rasen på uppgång och
det finns några uppfödare.
Sloughin är en underbar hund att leva med.
Inomhus är den lugn och vill
gärna ligga och drapera soffan.
Utomhus är den full av energi och vill få
springa långt och fort.
Han är med på allt som bjuds att göra.
Han gillar agility och lydnad,
om du är tillräckligt smart för att göra
träningen rolig för din hund.
Det är en upplevelse att se en
välmusklad Sloughi, och att sen veta att
den avgudar dig, är en riktig "ego-kick"!
Som många andra vinthundar är den
väldigt försiktig med
sin integritet, och vem den gillar eller inte.
Till en början kan han vara reserverad,
men när du förtjänar hans tillit,
kommer han älska dig!
Färgen hos Sloughi är från ljus sand,
genom brindle, till svart,
med eller utan svart mask.
Storleken för hane är 66-72 cm och
för tikar 61-68 cm.
Det finns i Tyskland fall av PRA, här i
sverige har Azawakh & Sloughi klubben
rekommenderat att endast använda
friska hundar i aveln.

The Sloughi is a shorthaired sighthound,
and like many other sighthounds,
has a very old history.
The Sloughi is the Moroccan Bedouins
and nomad dog, they often have the sloughis on the back
of their Arabian horse, and when they see a
rabbit they send the sloughi to catch it.
Sloughis still retain strong hunting
instincts - they are very close to their
origins in many ways - we use the hunting instincts for lure
coursing.
Today the breed is mostly found in Germany,
the Netherlands,
France and the USA with active breeders.
There are a few breeders in Great Britain,
Norway and Finland.
Here in Sweden we have four, but some new
imported ones shows increasing interest.
The Sloughi is a wonderful dog to live with.
Indoors he is calm,
(but wild as a youngster)
outdoors is he happy with what ever
happens. He likes agility and obedience,
if you have the patience make the training
fun for the dog.
It is wonderful to look at a well-muscled
Sloughi, and then to know that he
adores you, is an "ego boost"!
As many other sighthounds, he is very
careful with his integrity,
and who he likes or not.
On the first meeting he can be reserved,
but when you deserve his trust,
he will grow to love you!
The colour of the Sloughi is from light sand,
through brindle, to black,
with or without black mask.
Size for a male is 66-72 cm and for a
female 61-68 cm.
There have been some cases of PRA and
the breed club in Sweden has
recommend to breed with only healthy dogs,
which is +/+ or +/-
(Never two dogs with +/-).
